Ruele Okeyo is a storyteller from Nairobi, Kenya.

He works at the intersection of truth and urgency, telling the stories that institutions are too careful to tell and communities are too exhausted to translate. His practice spans documentary, podcast, digital content, performance, and advocacy communications, with a particular focus on HIV, LGBTIQA+ lives, sexual and reproductive health, and the young people navigating all of it in East Africa.

He doesn't distinguish between art and advocacy. For him, a well-told story is always both.

Ruele has spent five years inside the rooms where decisions get made about communities that rarely get to speak for themselves. He has sat on international stages, produced content across eight African countries, and built campaigns that moved people, not just numbers.

He founded Make Prevention Cool Again because he believes HIV prevention has an image problem — and that culture, creativity, and boldness can fix what fear-based messaging never could.

He is based in Nairobi. He travels with his dogs when he can.
